Thanks to an ex-colleague of mine, I got acquainted to some great must-have (at least for me) add-ons that I cannot do without anymore. Below is the list:
Rainbow Color Tools: Retrieves the color of any pixel on the browser. Copy color on click. Save color on right click. Colors values can be picked in #Hex, RGB, and other formats.
Screengrab: Screengrab! saves entire webpages as images. Just right-click on the page you want to grab and look in the "Screengrab" menu. It
will capture what you can see in the window, the entire page, just a
selection, a particular frame... basically it saves webpages as images -
either to a file, or to the clipboard. It can capture any Java or Flash embedded in a page, but to do this it requires Java to be installed in the browser.
Firebug: This is every website developer's must-have and favorite add-on of all time. Firebug integrates with Firefox to put a wealth of development tools at
your fingertips while you browse. You can edit, debug, and monitor CSS,
HTML, and JavaScript live in any web page
Video DownloadHelper :DownloadHelper downloads and also converts videos from many
sites with minimum effort.
MeasureIt: Draw a ruler across any webpage to check the width, height, or alignment of page elements in pixels. Loved this add-on, but I think the latest version of firefox does not support it anymore. You can give it a try. I have it added, but the ruler icon is no where to be seen. I have tried other similar add-ons out there but none are as good as this one.
Search Status: You will only need this if you're doing SEO. For every site you visit SearchStatus lets you view its Google PageRank, Google Category, Alexa popularity ranking, Compete.com ranking, SEOmoz Linkscape mozRank, Alexa related links and backward links from Google, Yahoo! and MSN. I have only recently being trying it out and not 100% sure that this is the best one out there. Still, it serves the purpose for now.
There was also a very light weight dictionary add-on I used to use which showed meanings, synonyms, pronunciation, and even usage when clicked on a word on a webpage. But damn it, I changed machines, and somehow lost it. I will start looking for it again though. Do let me know if you know of any.
